Snow Conditions.

I have ridden in all types of snow, from hard-pack to wet conditions to easy powder fun! Naturally letting air out of the tires will make it a little easier to ride, that is until you struggle, and dig yourself deeper, until you reach a firm base. Years of riding have taught me one thing, I know snow and BikeBoards will change the way you ride on any bike. Lets go for a ride!

Bikeboard Fun: Thanks to the Beast from the East

(Article from dannywilson.net)

Well the Beast from the East arrived bringing a lot of snow with it. That gave me the perfect opportunity to head out with Sam Peel and Amanda for a play in the snow on the seriously fun Bikeboards

What are Bikeboards?

Bikeboards are an invention from the states that are different to conventional ski bikes. The involve a board that can be bought to fit any tyre size from skinny tyres through to fat bikes. They are basically proper snowboards in a miniature version with real edges etc. The have mounting brackets that are precision made to ensure the fit is correct. You can either use just a single board of the front so you can still pedal around or go for two boards and be in a constant drift when going downhill, just the way i like it.

We headed up on to the Pennies facing fierce winds and mini blizzards along the way. Along with some waist high snow drifts. That might not sound like much to people in the Alps but its a lot for where I live. The wind chill was -17c on the day so wrapping up warm was essential. Eventually we found a hill that seemed worthy and got to the fun part with frozen beards all round, apart from Amanda of course.

It took us a few goes to get up to speed and pack the snow a little for the boards to work at their best, but once they did it was smiles all round. Have a look at the video to get an idea of the fun we had and get a closer look at the Bikeboards. Make sure you go and check them out at www.bikeboards.net

BIKE & CARGO TRAILERS

BikeBoards are a great tool for making sure your cargo trailer doesn’t weigh you down in the snow. Whether heading into the backcountry with your cargo for snow camping, hunting, or other transport, you can convert your wheeled cargo trailer for snow without taking off the wheels.

Adventurers push the limits and the boundaries, but to reach new limits being prepared is paramount. One of our greatest inspirations is Karl Bushby, adventurer and author, who set his own challenge to be the first person to completely walk an unbroken path around the world. We continue to be inspired by dreamers and explorers alike that can never be deterred from reaching their goal.

Adaptive Sports Equipment

For questions or comments regarding adaptive sports equipment applications, please contact us at: [email protected]

Our wheel ski product design is for use on any wheeled vehicle, from all-terrain handcycles to wheelchairs. We are excited to share more about what we have to come and we will be posting updates here and on our blog. It is our goal for anyone to be able to take their favorite ride wherever they want to go. Adaptive sports equipment is incredibly expensive, and use is often limited to a specific design and function. Current equipment either has wheels or skis, requiring investments in multiple pieces of equipment. One piece of equipment should have multiple uses, be simple to use, and cost effective. We welcome any feedback you have to offer anytime about where you want to go and how you want to ride.

We would like to thank the National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD) for testing our BikeBoards and providing feedback on the benefits and usefulness of the BikeBoards ski kits for enabling snow access for all abilities. We are grateful for the their review and demonstrated support!

Juno Boman

“Why not get out and ride?”

rw_1751569Juno is a mountain bike athlete born in Gothenburg, Sweden. Juno started out back in the late 80’s and moved on to riding BMX and mountainbikes during the 90’s, and even spent a couple of years riding motocross. Juno left her hometown, and moved south of Stockholm to pursue music, releasing an album and playing with various music artists. After a car accident, Juno felt like something was missing in her life and returned to biking as part of her healing process.

“At first I got myself a DJ bike and in 2013 I had my main focus on Freeride/Downhill. For the first time in what seemed to be forever I felt that I could actually do something. I felt alive again.”

Juno’s favorite place to ride is Järvsö Bike Park, as well as local trails, and she likes to contribute to local trail building. Her goals for riding are to improve as much as she can in the sport and ride year around, in all conditions almost every day. Her goals also include traveling more to find new places to ride and to ride in different countries. As creative as our other members, Juno also shares a passion for photography and film making, doing her own shooting and editing, to connect with others and share her passion and love for biking.
